TRW’s Speed Proportional (SpeedPro) Steering eliminates the compromise between full power steering effort at low speeds and minimal power steering effort at high speeds that is found on conventional systems. The system provides more power steering during low speeds and parking maneuvers, and less power steering assistance at high speeds. This produces more road feel and allows better directional stability and steering response. Torque Overlay can be combined with Electrically Powered Hydraulic Steering and integrated into the CANbus system. An open design is adopted, allowing for use of additional parameters such as yaw rate, front axle load, etc.
